Here's my contribution, a segment of a sign above Alert Moving and Storage, located a few doors down from Rieker's German Market in Fox Chase, where we were headed for some house-made soup, sausages, and spaetzle.

Here my husband chose to photograph this oddity, a doll's shoe nailed to a   joist inside the building he's rehabbing in a section of the city called Lawndale.

And More Good News! On Friday, November 6, 2015, Philadelphia was named the first World Heritage City in the United States, joining such cities as Paris, Florence, Jerusalem, Prague etc.

"This is the start of a new and exciting chapter in the city's history," said Philadelphia's Mayor Michael Nutter. "As we celebrate this milestone, the next step is to focus on the future and how we can optimize this World Heritage City recognition to attract more people to visit, invest, work, study and live in Philadelphia."

To learn more of our city's recent recognition, check out this article in The New York Times here.

And tying in with "Philly Photo Day," Katie Scot Aiton gives 11 photographic reasons why Philadelphia deserves to be a World Heritage City here.

Congratulations to Philadelphia and to all the people who make this city great!
